Ovata Group advises families, family offices, fund managers, corporates and government organisations on the structuring and execution of complex mandates across jurisdictions. The firm operates from Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Sydney, has served over 2,000 clients through its subsidiaries and network of international channel partners, and draws on more than 25 years of cumulative industry heritage across the specialist firms in the group.
Ovata Group is a cross-border corporate advisory firm. We advise families, family offices, fund managers, corporates and government organisations on the structuring and execution of complex mandates across jurisdictions — from deal and transaction structuring through capital raising, fund establishment, market entry and cross-border regulatory advisory.
Cross-border transactions rarely fail on the commercial terms. They fail on the seams — where jurisdictions meet, where holding structures were engineered for a different purpose, where regulatory approvals were assumed rather than confirmed. Ovata is built to work those seams. Our practice is principal-led, coordinated across the group, and delivered alongside licensed local counsel where regulated advice is required.
The firm's posture is institutional; the engagement model is personal. Every mandate has one principal, one point of contact, and one continuous line of accountability from discovery through to completion.
Ovata is not tied to any single counterparty, product provider or government programme. Our recommendation is the one that fits the mandate, the capital and the client — nothing else. Where Ovata cannot or should not act, we say so, and where possible we point the client toward the firm that can.
Every mandate is structured to account for corporate, tax, regulatory, licensing and jurisdictional dimensions in parallel — not sequentially. Licensed local counsel in each relevant jurisdiction is engaged from the outset, not bolted on at the end.
Ovata operates through a network of international channel partners and trusted local practitioners in every jurisdiction the mandate reaches. The client experiences a single coordinated team; behind the scenes, the right specialist is engaged on the right question.
Every mandate has a single named principal as the point of accountability. When the client calls, they reach the person who knows the file. There is no relationship-manager rotation, no offshore service desk.
Client data, communications and counterparty relationships are treated to institutional confidentiality standards. The secure client portal, the document handling and the firm's working practices are all designed around that expectation.
We do not market success stories, name partners, or trade on the names of our clients. The work is private by design. Our reputation is built — and tested — one mandate at a time.
Ovata Group draws on more than 25 years of cumulative industry experience across the specialist firms and senior advisers within the group and its channel partner network. That heritage spans cross-border deal structuring across multiple market cycles, fund establishment and licensing work across every major APAC jurisdiction, and the market-entry and cross-border regulatory advisory work that accompanies capital moving across borders.
That heritage matters. The rules that govern cross-border corporate work have been rewritten several times in the lifespan of the firms now within Ovata — the BEPS reforms and their downstream effect on holding-company jurisdictions; the rise of Singapore's VCC and Labuan's regime alongside the more established offshore centres; the tightening of regulatory perimeters across ASIC, MAS, SFC and the Labuan FSA; the CFC and beneficial-ownership regimes that now constrain how groups are structured. Ovata has advised through every one of those transitions. That perspective is built into the recommendations we give today.
Over 2,000 clients have been served across the subsidiaries and international channel partners within Ovata Group.
Ovata operates from three primary offices in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Sydney, with channel-partner relationships across additional jurisdictions.
Beyond the three primary offices, Ovata works through a network of international channel partners and trusted local counsel in every jurisdiction in which it advises. We do not publish a partner list; the network is operated discreetly and on a referral basis.
Every Ovata mandate is led by a senior principal. The firm's leadership is small by design — we do not run volume, and we do not delegate the principal relationship.
The firm's founder leads the corporate advisory and government-advisory practices, and is the primary point of accountability for the largest mandates. Background in cross-border corporate finance, structured advisory and regulated financial services.
Leads the confidential family-office channel and the relationships with the private banks, multi-family offices, commercial law firms and fund managers through which a significant portion of Ovata's mandates originate.
Heads mandate execution and the licensed-counsel network across jurisdictions. Responsible for the firm's standards of execution and the coordination of licensed practitioners on every file.
Detailed principal biographies are made available to clients and prospective clients on a confidential basis. The firm does not publish full leadership profiles externally.
The Investment Migration Council (IMC), based in Geneva, is the industry association for the investment migration profession. It sets the professional standards to which firms operating in cross-border residence and citizenship planning are expected to adhere — a code of conduct, a disciplinary framework, standards of due diligence and client care, and continuing professional development.
Ovata Group is a member of the IMC. Our residency and relocation practice operates in accordance with the Council's professional standards, and our principals participate in the Council's continuing education and industry forums.
Membership of the IMC is a professional standards commitment. It does not itself constitute a licence to provide immigration, legal or financial product advice. Regulated advice within any mandate is provided by the appropriately licensed practitioner in the relevant jurisdiction.
